  • 1 French baguette
  • 1 Bowl of ice water
  • Salt, to taste

How To: Make Butter from Scratch

Make an old tradition new again this Thanksgiving! Check out the video for an easy guide to homemade butter and add a little extra holiday fun to your festivities. Let guests take turns with the butter churn and enjoy the delicious results.

  1. Pour room temperature heavy cream into a butter churm.
  2. Secure your butter churn and start turning.
  3. The cream will need to be churned consistently for 15 minutes, take turns with the buttern churn to add a little fun to your festivities!
  4. Continue to churn until you can see the butter separate from the buttermilk.
  5. Pour out buttermilk into a separate container and discard.
  6. Use a spatula or utensil to scoop buttermilk into a bowl of ice water to firm the butter.
  7. Use butter paddles to squeeze out excess buttermilk.
  8. Shape the butter with paddles and place on butter dish.
  9. Season with salt, herbs or spices to taste, and enjoy with a fresh baked baguette!
  10. Serve with bread as an appetizer with a glass of Chardonnay.
  11. Refrigerate for future use.
