Since our founding in 1975, we have dedicated ourselves to crafting wines that showcase the purity, elegance and aging potential that can be achieved from the finest vineyards on the Central Coast. Planted in 1849, Eden Rift is one of the oldest continually producing vineyards in California. Located 2 miles from our Mt. Harlan Estate, it is a cool, windswept site with limestone-rich granite and loam soils. Spurced from a prized east-facing block of Calera Clone Chardonnay, this sleek and graceful wine offers vibrant citrus flavors with hints of juicy tropical fruit.

Winemaker Notes
Located 2 miles from our Mt. Harlan Estate, the limestone-rich soils of the historic Eden Rift Vineyard produced a sleek and graceful Chardonnay with enticing aromas of white peach, cumquat, and orange zest. On the palate, luxurious notes of papaya and marmalade are underscored by energetic acidity that carries the flavors to a long, dynamic finish.
Production
The 2021 growing season began with very little winter rainfall followed by moderate spring temperatures that led to a typically timed budbreak. While the temperate weather led to a uniform bloom and set, overall yields were down significantly. Throughout the remainder of spring and summer the weather continued to be mild, resulting in a somewhat later-than-normal veraison, with harvest commencing just six weeks later. Reflecting the combination of low yields and excellent weather, our 2021 wines display beautiful depth and concentration, with refreshing acidity and full fruit expression.
