Production Notes

VARIETAL COMPOSITION: 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 5% Syrah

Winemaker Notes

This vivacious Cabernet Sauvignon displays enticing aromas of black cherry, ripe strawberry, loamy earth and a hint of desert sage. The bright red berry layers are echoed on the lively palate, with supple tannins and juicy acidity framing the generous fruit and carrying the wine to a long, graceful finish.

Production

After a dry, cold winter and a late spring, both budbreak and bloom came late in the Columbia Valley, with cool, blustery weather leading to a very small fruit set. July and August turned warm and sunny, which combined with the low soil moisture, ensured small canopies and slow and measured ripening. By the end of August, version was complete in most blocks, and we began harvesting our Syrah and Merlot in early September, with our Cabernet Sauvignon harvested between October 1st and October 15th, during a spell of ideal sunny and cool fall weather. Despite the cool vintage, the small clusters achieved incredible ripeness, producing wines with deep, lovely color, plush, supple tannins and generous terroir-driven flavors.
