Winemaker Notes
This refined and stately blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah showcases the structure and sophistication that can be achieved when these varietals are grown at high elevations. The nose begins with floral notes of violet and wildflowers underscored by savory hints of moist earth leather and dried herbs. As it evolves, concentrated layers of blueberry and black currant emerge, as well as hints of clove and vanilla from French oak aging. Echoing the aromas, the palate is both concentrated and complex, with generous tannins and an age-worthy structure that promises a long life ahead.
Production
The 2019 vintage began with a cold, wet winter followed by a cool spring, which resulted in a late budbreak. The cool, consistent weather provided abundant hangtime, ensuring ideal flavor development in the grapes. Yields for our red varieties were slightly above average, and temperate late-season weather allowed for a measured pace to harvest. Across the board, the 2019 wines are bright and balanced with smooth, elegant tannins and lush, vibrant flavors.
